A President Out of Touch with the People
We’ve all witnessed the demoralizing lack of appreciation the President has for our nation, the people of America and the ideals of liberty which form the backbone of the American experience. The national media allowed him to skate through the Presidential campaign without any direct questions about his beliefs. It should have been evident to them…as it has become evident to all…that his beliefs are rooted in socialism and personal ego.
Sadly, few in Washington have the guts to label the president and his policies for what they are. Sarah Palin, of course, in her TV interviews in November, clearly identified Obama’s dubious background and radical associates which formed the basis of his policies.
The tyrants who ruled the Soviet Union and their satellite countries in Eastern Europe had many terrible things in common. One of these was narcissistic ego requiring that all roads in society lead back to the ‘leader’. When you traveled behind what was then known as the ‘Iron Curtain’ you saw images everywhere of the despots who lead these nations but did not view any concrete examples of leadership amongst the ruins of their societies.
After one year of Obama we can say the same. He is a man in love with the sound of his own voice and his photograph. It’s clear that he is most comfortable traveling abroad talking down our nation or sitting in Washington atop the bloated federal bureaucracy. The ‘people’ of our nation seem far away from his thinking. One news organization calculated earlier this fall that he had traveled to more countries than states which seem odd seeing as he was elected to serve the American people not those of nations who generally dislike us.
President Ronald Reagan always made an effort to show is love and concern for his countrymen, not by constantly ‘reading’ speeches in Washington but in going out and meeting the people where they lived and worked. Many us remember President Reagan in suit and tie very much muddied as he encouraged some Midwestern youths in a cornfield heroically sandbagging to save their hometown from a flood.
Yet, twice this year, once in Oakland and once in Seattle, police forces there lost 4 officers in one day to savage killers. In neither event did the President issue a personal comment before the cameras nor have the decency to attend the mass funerals. Yet, he has found time to take two trips to Copenhagen neither of which provided any results for our nation.
He made an embarrassing trip through communist China that seemed nothing more than an excuse for him to act as a tourist. He did not even speak on freedom and liberty as other Presidents of both parties have done. In fact, can you remember a time when he invoked the founding fathers or the glorious attributes of personal liberty and freedom? Even in his stilted speech at West Point on the subject Afghanistan…he could not mouth the word ‘victory’ nor speak of the liberty Americans have brought to thousands of women in Afghanistan.
To be honest, all we really have in this President is a mirage…an illusion of capability and intelligence. What we really have is man unsuited for the Presidency of the United States of America because he has shown, at no point in his life or writings, a love for this country nor his countrymen and women.
His policies of shredding the free enterprise system, socializing medicine and over-spending the nation into a future nightmare of inflation and high interest rates seem better suited to a bitter man determined to destroy the nation he has sworn to protect.
Sarah Palin and Ronald Reagan both have written about where you find the genius of the American spirit, of courage in time of war and prosperity and benevolence in the time of peace. That special brand of American patriotism, wisdom and innovation comes, not from Washington, but resides in the heart of every American who appreciates freedom.
No matter how the mainstream elitist media may want to color it, nor how little Republican leaders in Washington seem willing to speak the truth with some courage…we know Barack Obama is not suited by background or philosophy to lead this nation. History will likely record him as an ‘accidental President’ foisted upon the public by a blind and willfully ignorant liberal media. But, this will only be true if we, those who still hold our nation as something exceptional and worth fighting for, spend the next three years recruiting friends, registering voters, attending rallies and line up at the polls to take our country back. 2010 will be a pivotal year but we must hit the ground running.
And if we do all that is expected of us we will forcibly retire the socialist congress in 2010 and defeat the accidental Presidency of Obama in 2012. As President Thomas Jefferson once warned: “The cost of liberty is eternal vigilance.” Let us join in the spirit of courageous conservatives like Reagan and Palin and work vigilantly to take our country back
